Sending Christmas Cards to Merchants - CCSalesPro

Written by James Shepherd | Oct 8, 2013 8:42:33 PM

Here is an email I received from one of our agents Doug Tolles that I wanted to share with you because I think this is a great idea!  I have never tried this myself but I am going to give it a shot this year. Thanks Doug!

Hi All

I started doing this from the beginning of my work in merchant services to Add Value & Personally Cementing Relationships with Merchants…..

First of all, sometime during the statement analysis follow up or contract sign up stage (which is when I do this mostly), I always inquire from the owner when they started their business (try to get month and year).  Then I put the info in my calendar……so when that anniversary date nears, I buy a birthday card and hand write for example……HAPPY 12 YEARS IN BUSINESS, I look forward to serving you in the years to come!!!…….Thank you for your business!!!!

Also, soon as they become available, I buy a couple of boxes of Christmas cards.  I hand write a personal message to each owner.  I send those out a week or two weeks out from Christmas to convey I’m thinking of you and your family, even during this busy time of year.

If birthdates ever comes into conversation, I’ll make a note and do the same thing.

The whole point being is I want to exceed any expectations of the owner, compared to past CC vendors or any vendors they use.  Who could fire someone who goes the extra mile for the owner……

Wow!  What an amazing idea, the thing about ideas like this is that they always sound good in a blog post but having the character and discipline to do this on every client will really set you apart from your less disciplined competitors, thanks again for the tip Doug!
