3 Tips for Selling Touch Screen Point of Sale Systems

In your opening pitch it is important you let the business owner know you offer touch screen point of sale systems. Many business owners are buying these systems right now because of how popular they are. If the owner is not interested, don't press the matter, but at least he knows you offer these systems.

#1 – Mention at every location that you offer touch screen point of sale systems In your opening pitch it is important you let the business owner know you offer touch screen POS (point of sale) systems. Many business owners are buying these systems right now because of how popular they are. If the owner is not interested, don’t press the matter, but at least he knows you offer these systems. You want to be the provider of choice in your market.

#2 – Mention again when you have made a sale and you have moved on to the equipment You do not want to hinder your pitch at the beginning if the owner does not sound interested. It could derail your sale, so be careful about it, but you can mention this again when you get down to the equipment part of the process. Tell the merchant you have three options for him:

  1. Reprogram your existing terminal.” Maybe the owner already owns the terminal or is used to using it the way it is set up.
  2. Go ahead and get a terminal that is free from us.“Our terminals are EMV compliant and have a smart-card reader. It is a “loaner” so if they cancel we get the terminal back.
  3. Get one of the several touch screen POS solutions that we offer.” You could ask, “Have you seriously considered a touch screen POS solution for your business yet?”

#3 – Mention everything that we offer You must realize that in our industry there are several payment processing services that fill a particular need for a particular merchant. There may be competitors that offer services you don’t that fill a particular niche. Here are things you NEED to mention that you offer:

  • Cash advance – the merchant can get money up front against their future credit card volume
  • Gift cards – do not try to sell these yourself, read this blog post on “The Easy Way to Sell Gift Cards” Let someone else sell these for you.
  • Electronic check processing – guarantee that a check will be good if run through our system
  • Touch screen POS solutions
  • Web design – NO money has to be paid upfront; we will work with their existing site or create a new one depending on what they prefer; only a small monthly fee
  • E-commerce – this can be set up with their website along with social media integration and email subscriptions.

Remember your job is not just to MAKE the sale, but to KEEP the sale so you don’t lose the client to one of your competitors who offer one of those niche products or services.
