Introduction to Selling Merchant Residuals

As an agent selling card acceptance services to merchants, you know your residual stream is golden. And when the time comes to sell that golden asset you can’t just put out a for-sale sign, as you would other assets, say like a house.

Over the last several years, I have sold 7 different merchant residual portfolios, and in doing so have seen the good, the bad and the ugly sides of this process. Now I want to share what I’ve learned with others who are in the field building merchant residual portfolios with the goal of getting the best deals when selling parts or all of those portfolios. Guide to Selling Merchant Residual Portfolios examines factors contributing to the value of merchant residual portfolios, the rights and obligations of agents relative to their ISO partners in the sales process, and steps to negotiating the best payouts for merchant residual portfolios.
